Attention all juniors:   please bring your charged Chromebooks tomorrow and Monday.  This is in order for you to complete your Pre-Administration, so that our SAT School Day, scheduled for next Wednesday, won't be so long.  Pre-Administration will be done in US History beginning tomorrow, and Monday, February 23rd.  Any junior (student who is in their third year of high school) who does not have a US History class, please report to your counselor as soon as possible.

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS WANTING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE END OF THE YEAR SENIOR TRIP:   Due to having to sign contracts based on the number of people participating in the Senior Trip, the last day to make an initial payment is Tuesday, February 28th.  You cannot attend this event if we do not have a minimum down payment of $45 by that date.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Knappenberger in room 405.

EnFocus Senior Meeting with Ms. Wort in the LGI:  Monday Feb 27th from 8:30am - 3:30pm.  Seniors will attend during their English class that day.

  • We would like to wish Good Luck to the Boys Swim Team. They will be competing in the State Meet today and tomorrow!

  • In honor of Black History Month, representatives for the Divine Nine will be in the cafeteria during all lunches today.  The Divine Nine are Black Fraternities and Sororities.

  • Our 1st CTE focus today:    Welding Technology - Did you know that welding offers the option to travel and is needed in all industries worldwide?  This is a high skill trade that is always in demand.   Current Riley students are:  Willim Larock, Gage Michael, Isaiah Rivas, and Troy Smith. 

     

     

  • Our 2nd CTE focus todayMarketing and Sales - Think about The South Bend Cubs @ Four Winds Field, Notre Dame with the ND logo and the leprechaun, think about stadiums, tickets, jerseys, the “swoosh” for Nike - all marketing.  You may consider this course to create, design and implement trademarks.  Current Riley students are:  Elijah Gaddey, Qualyn Hawkins, Gabriel Kirkpatrick, Enrique Macias Hernandez, Leylani Plata, Peyton Ring and Aazjeon Williams.

  • Seniors....tomorrow is the last day to make the initial payment for the Senior Trip. A minimum payment of $45 must be made. Cash payments are made to Mrs. Knappenberger, while card payments can be made to Mrs. Weisser, in the treasurer’s office, until 1 pm. If payment is not made, you will not be able to attend. We have to sign contracts, and we need a final number count. 

     

  • The Drama Club will present Once Upon a Mattress on Thursday, March 9th and Friday, March 10th at 7 PM. Performances will take place in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 for SBCSC students and staff with ID and $8 for the public. Tickets can be purchased at the door. The Drama Club has also partnered with the Sweet Dreams Ministry of St. Vincent de Paul to make fleece tie blankets for youth in our community that lack substantial bedding. If you donate a 2-yard piece of clean, anti-pill fleece at the door, you will receive a free ticket to the show.

  • CTE focus today:  Supply Chain Management and Logistics:  Have you thought of a career at the South Bend Chocolate Factory creating procedures to deliver chocolates around the United States or the World?  Maybe consider a career at FedEx or Amazon Prime that have warehouse hubs in this community.  Learn all about this career right here at RHS.  Current students include:  Melody Rose Klatt and Derek Neiley.

·         Our last CTE Focus for the month is…Entrepreneurship!  Learn how to operate your own business.  Students will be afforded the opportunity to work with mentors from the University of Notre Dame’s MBA Program and compete in the McCloskey New Venture Competition.  Possible careers include:  Business office assistant, sales representative, accountant, business research & development.  Current students are:  Heaven Cooper, Vanessa Garcia, A’Torion Irons and Kyzareirre Quiroz.  

 

Jumpstart your career with CTE.  Try on a career and see if it fits.  Dual credit is available in many classes along with industry recognized certification AND no cost to you or your family. These courses help assist students to complete Bucket #3 in your Graduation Pathway.   See your Career Guidance Specialist Mrs. Diane Carter or your Guidance Counselor for more information.

·        This is a reminder that the Wildcat Coffee Shop run by our students in the Life Skills classes will be open for business tomorrow. Stop by and get your morning treats, coffee, and hot chocolate. Items are just $2 each, and we only accept cash at this time. We will be open from 8:30-9:30. Thank you for your support.


·        Images Unlimited has delivered mid-winter dance pictures for those who placed an order.  Please pick those up in the treasurer’s office today or tomorrow.

  • MID-WINTER DANCE PHOTOS MAY BE PICKED UP IN THE TREASURER'S OFFICE.
  • Our Riley Wildbots compete tomorrow at Penn High School in the 1st Indiana Robotics District Mishawaka Event.  Good luck to all of you competing tomorrow!
  • Our boys’ basketball team travels to LaPorte High School tomorrow night for the sectional.  Riley and Mishawaka will play at 8:00pm, South Bend time. Good luck to our basketball team as they compete tomorrow!

·        AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SENIORS WHO HAVE COMMITTED TO THE END OF THE YEAR SENIOR TRIP:   
A reminder that the second payment for the Senior Trip of $45 is due this Thursday, March 16th.  Cash payments to Mrs. Knappenberger, card payments to the Treasurer. Students must also get their signed permission slips turned in as soon as possible. If you need a permission slip, please stop by Mrs. Knappenberger room #405. We have signed contracts based on the number of people that have paid so far; unfortunately, we cannot accept first-time payments. 

·         It’s Student Choice week! Jackson Middle School chose this round’s choice, and the winner was American Classics, featuring Buffalo Chicken Dip and other homestyle classics. American Classics will run today through Wednesday, while the runner-up, Veg Out, the vegetarian option, will run Thursday this week.

·        The second meeting for KGT this month is Wednesday, March 15th from 3:45-5:30 in the Riley Cafeteria. All Riley Wildcats are welcome.
