Magnets

Riley is home to a Computer Science and Engineering Magnet. Students choose either a computer science or an engineering pathway. The engineering pathway is nationally certified as an Innovation High School through Project Lead the Way (PLTW). PLTW is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curricular programs in the United States. Riley's PLTW certification allows students to earn up to 12 college credits and multiple scholarship opportunities only awarded to PLTW graduates.

Eighth - 11th grade students are encouraged to spend a day shadowing a current magnet student to learn more.

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

There are more than 20 CTE programs in the SBCSC and all SBCSC students can enroll regardless of which school they attend. Transportation is provided. The following programs are here at Riley:

Free or reduced meals and textbooks

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a free meal option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve breakfast and lunch at no cost to all enrolled students without collecting household applications. However, since there is only one application for meals and textbooks, SBCSC will only be reimbursed for textbooks if you fill out the form. Be sure to check and digitally sign the textbook section. The form is here: https://family.titank12.com/. If you have any questions, call our office at 574-393-6059.

Payments for textbook fees can be taken over the phone with a credit or debit card by calling 574-393-6099. When Textbook Rental Invoices are mailed you can pay with a credit card by putting the card number on the provided space on the invoice or with a check or money order through the mail. You can also come in person to the fourth floor of the Administration Building to the Fees Cashier's office to pay with cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card.
