Course Descriptions

Introduction to Two-Dimensional Art Class engages students to learn, create, and respond to areas of art through the study of art history aesthetics, criticism, and integrated studies relating to the visual arts. Students will work toward competencies in drawing, design, painting, and graphics with sequential production assignments. Careers in art will be identified throughout the course.

Introduction to Three-Dimensional Art Class engages students to learn, create, and respond to areas of art through the study of art history, aesthetics, criticism, and integrated studies relating to the visual arts. Students will create three-dimensional works of art, reflect upon the outcomes, and revise their work.

Ceramics will introduce students to the process of hand building, wheel throwing, slip and glaze techniques, and the firing processes. Students will learn how to prepare clay, the types of construction methods used to make pottery, the use of pottery equipment, decorating techniques, glazing, firing process, storage of clay, and clean-up.

Photography
 engages students in sequential learning experiences that encompass art history, art criticism, aesthetics, and production. Photography class will lead to the creation of portfolio quality works, creating photographs, films, and videos utilizing a variety of digital tools and dark room processes.
