· Shorts
Students are no longer allowed to wear shorts to school after Friday, November 3, 2023. You are allowed to start wearing shorts again the week we return from Spring Break.
· IDs
Every student should be wearing their school ID, it does not matter what picture may be on the ID.
· Hearing Screening
All 10th-grade students will be participating in a hearing test TODAY during your English class.
- The LSU meeting scheduled for today has been canceled.
· The Riley German Club will meet after school TOMORROW in room 308. Be sure to join us! We will play games, have German snacks and have a lot of fun!
· Student council will meet before and after school TOMORROW. Council members, please attend one of the meetings at 8:00 am or 3:40 pm in room 213.
- Beacon Career Day will be on Wednesday, November 8 at Washington High School from 9am-11am. There are currently 11 slots remaining for the FRESHMEN class. This career day will be focusing on careers in nursing, surgery, radiology, fitness, sports medicine, laboratory, facilities management, nutritional services and more. Students interested, please reach out to Coach Alex with GEAR UP in Room 411. Permission slips have to be turned in to Coach Alex or Mrs. Carter, in guidance, by Monday, November 6 2023.
· Boys basketball workouts are being held Monday through Thursday from 3:45 – 5 PM. You must have your physical, Eventlink sign-up, and insurance paid in order to participate.

· Boys Basketball Tryouts will be Monday, November 6th. Juniors and Seniors will tryout from 4:00-5:30 PM, Freshman and Sophomores from 5:30-7:00 PM. All students must have a new physical on file, be signed up for Eventlink, and have paid their $35 insurance in order to participate. If you have any questions, please see the athletic office.

- The administrative team has decided to allow our scholars to wear Halloween costumes to school on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. However, you must adhere to these guidelines.

- REMINDER: Students who park at Riley during the school day are required to have a Riley parking pass to do so. (This includes all CTE students!) The cost is $10. Please pick up the Parking Rules and Consent form in the treasurer’s office.

- National Honor Society is hosting Hallway Halloween on Wednesday, October 25 from 6:00-7:30 pm. We need donations to make this event happen! Please bring unopened bags of candy or treats to Mrs. Kent in room 433 up until the day of the event. The class with the most candy collected will be able to pie 5 staff members in the face.
- Cheer Clinic will be held Monday, October 23rd and Wednesday, October 25th, from 5:30-7:30pm. Participants will learn the school dance, a chant, and a cheer. Tryouts will be held Monday, October 30, from 5:30-7:30.

- Any Junior who missed the PSAT on October 11th has been sent an important email from Mrs. Richards. It is important that you respond immediately as requested in the email. If you have any questions, please let Mrs. Richards know.
- National Honor Society is hosting Hallway Halloween on Wednesday, October 25 from 6:00-7:30 pm. We need donations to make this event happen! Please bring unopened bags of candy or treats to Mrs. Kent in room 433 up until the day of the event. The class with the most candy collected will be able to pie 5 staff members in the face.
- Anyone interested in the following roles during the basketball season are invited to a call out meeting TODAY (Tuesday, October 17) at 12:00 PM in LGI room:
Manager- Responsible for various practice and game day duties, including organizing, laundry, and setup. You must have commitment to the program, just like the players on team, and be available on Saturday’s when needed.
Video Coordinator- Will be available for some practices and all games. Will be shooting video and pictures for social media.
Wildcat Club- We need up to 10 people who can help with pre-game festivities, including lights during starting line-ups, running out with the Riley flag, and creating a student section environment. You will need to be available for almost all home games.
- We are currently hosting boys basketball workouts Monday through Thursday from 3:45 – 5 PM to get prepared for the season. You must have your physical, Eventlink sign-up, and insurance paid in order to participate. The schedule is:

- Picture Retake day for all underclassmen and all seniors is TOMORROW (October 10.) All students will be called alphabetically to the auditorium starting around 10:20. Picture envelopes are available in the main office for any underclassman who would like to purchase pictures. Underclassmen requesting a retake will need to return their complete original picture package.
Seniors who were not here for the September picture day may have their picture taken TOMORROW. Images Unlimited will take 3 poses. There is a $5 sitting fee due to the photographer TOMORROW.
Seniors may also retake pictures if they were unhappy with their photos taken in September. For those seniors only, the $5 sitting fee is waived.
The photographer will take pictures from 10:20am– 1:00pm TOMORROW.
- Quiz Bowl will meet Tuesday (tomorrow) after school in room 417. New members are welcome.
- BEST BUDDIES will meet Wednesday during all lunches to provide more information about the club or to sign up new members.

BEST BUDDIES is a new club at Riley that invites students with and without disabilities to participate in activities that promote friendship, acceptance, and interaction. It’s open to all students within the school, both with and without disabilities. We will meet October 10 during all lunch periods to give more information or to sign up.
