Picture Retake day for all underclassmen and all seniors will be held Tuesday, October 10.  More information will follow at a later date.

Homecoming Queen Voting is open TODAY to all seniors.  Seniors have until midnight tonight to vote.

Congratulations to the Boys Tennis team who are runners-up in their sectional! Good luck to our Cross-Country team as they compete at Oxbow County Park in Dunlap tomorrow in the Cross-Country NIC Championship Meet!  We would also like to wish our Football team good luck this evening as they take on the New Prairie Cougars at New Prairie!

The German club will be meeting on Wednesday, Oct 4th, after school in room 308.  We will try some German cake and play German games!

Riley Readers is still taking new members.  The first meeting is October 4 during second period in the library.  See Mrs. Golubski if you’re interested. 

We are happy to announce a new club, Best Buddies! In this program, students with and without disabilities are given the opportunity to participate in activities that promote friendship, acceptance, and interaction. It is open to all students within the school, both with and without disabilities. If you are interested in making new friends, this is the program for you! We will be meeting on October 10 during all lunch periods for more information or to sign up.

THERE ARE STILL STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT PICKED UP THE PICTURE PACKAGE THEY ORDERED ON YEARBOOK PICTURE DAY.  PLEASE COME TO THE TREASURER’S OFFICE AND GET YOUR PICTURES.

Next Week is SPIRIT WEEK!  Below are the themes for each day.  Be creative, look ideas up on the internet, etc.  However, be respectful, follow the dress code for inappropriate clothing, inappropriate language on clothes, length of shorts/skirts, half shirts etc. 

Monday - Country vs. Country Club 

                 wear country (laid back clothing, jeans, flannel,) or preppy (dressed up clothing)

Tuesday - Rhyme without reason (twin rhyme theme)

                 Example; One student dress like a cat and the other like a bat (could be a baseball bat or the winged animal) 

Wednesday - Barbie vs. Oppenheimer

                Dress like Barbie or Oppenheimer

Thursday - Soccer Moms vs. BBQ Dad.    Dress like a soccer mom or a barbeque dad

Friday - Blue and Gold

              Dress in your favorite Riley Blue and Gold apparel

 

College visits are held in the LGI (unless otherwise noted) for any junior or senior with a respectable GPA.  You must sign up in the Guidance Office to attend:

Valparaiso University:  October 16th @1:00 p.m.

Bethel University:  October 17th @ 9:00 a.m.

Here are a few announcements from Mr. Gavin, our Athletic Director:

This Past Weekend the Boys Cross Country team won 1st Place at the 20th Annual New Haven Cross Country Classic in the AA Division. 

Riley's Girls Flag Football team went 2-1 at the Indianapolis Colts High School Girls Flag Football Jamboree. Kyra Cooper won the Mental Attitude Award and Samara Ford was selected MVP. Congratulations ladies.

The Riley Football team defeated Washington 26-0.  Each victory continues to write a new chapter of history for our Riley Football Program.

The Latine Student Union will meet today after school in room 316. Snacks and Activity buses are available.


The St. Joseph County College Fair will be held TONIGHT from 6-7:30 pm at the Century Center.  Parking and admission are free.   A Financial Aid Seminar will be held at 5:30 for those families that are interested.


Current Sisterhood members and all 9th Grade young ladies interested in joining Sisterhood will meet TOMORROW in the LGI at the top of 2nd hour.

Riley High School Band competed in ISSMA where they earned Gold with distinction!  Congratulations to all who competed!

Our girls Flag Football Teams went down to compete in Indianapolis Saturday for the Colts Jamboree.  The girls finished their day with 2 wins and1 loss.  Congratulations to all of the ladies who participated:   Aneesa, Erin, Evelyn, Kayla, Kyla, Lily, Mia, Kyra Cooper, who won the mental attitude award and also Samara Ford, who won the MVP award.  Well done Lady Wildcats!

Congratulations to The Class of 2024 Senior Joel Kricheff who earned an internship with NASA and their “Solar Eclipse Astronomy Research Project.” 

Boys Cross Country was crowned New Haven AA Champs! 

Girls Cross Country took 6th place overall at the New Haven invite!  

Football has increased their record to 6-0. This is the first time since 1965!                                      Congratulations to all of our young ladies and gentlemen who competed over the weekend!

Girls basketball will be hosting a bake sale TODAY during lunch hours.  Items will be priced between $1-$3.  Stop by the Wildcat den during your lunch to see what tasty treats we will have for you!

Any girl interested in joining the girls basketball team should please see Coach Columbus in room 215, Coach Six on floor 2, or stop by the athletic office to pick up an information sheet.

TODAY is the last day for senior girls with a GPA of 2.0 and higher that is a senior based on credits earned may sign up for Fall Homecoming Court.   The Court will consist of eight girls. We will vote via Google Form.  Homecoming will be held Friday, May 6.  An email with the link to sign up was emailed to seniors from Mr. Henderson.

KGT will meet this TODAY from 3:45-5:30 in the Riley Cafeteria. All Riley Wildcats are welcome. Bus Transportation will be available for all learners needing a ride. See Mr. Buison, Ms. Cheeseman, or Mr. Schulte if you have any questions.

STUDENT YEARBOOK PICTURES HAVE ARRIVED!  IF YOU ORDERED PICTURES, PLEASE PICK THEM UP IN THE TREASURER’S OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Any senior girl with a GPA of 2.0 and higher that is a senior based on credits earned may sign up for Fall Homecoming Court today through Wednesday only. The Court will consist of eight girls. It’s that time of the year again when Riley High School vs. Washington High School take their battle beyond the field!!!  Do you like chicken?  Do you like CHICK-FIL-A chicken??  With the Sauce??!!!!!  If you do, stop by the southside CHICK-FIL-A starting Saturday, September 16 – Friday, September 22.  All you have to do is order a large amount of food, pay for it, then ask for your receipt to go into the Riley box.  The winning school wins $1000 for their Athletic Department.

A reminder to those students who are applying for the Lilly Scholarship:  the deadline for all your material including transcripts is TODAY.  Please make sure that you have submitted your counselor's email address so that they can send your transcript.  The transcripts must be sent by your high school counselor.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Guidance Office.
