Engineering Magnet

“Look around, the only thing not designed by somebody is nature” -Dave Kelly, IDEO Wherever you look, technology and engineering is present. Engineers have been involved in the creation of every man-made object used worldwide. Customers don’t interact with an engineer to use what that engineer has designed; because of this, Engineering is known as the stealth profession. The technology and engineering magnet at Riley seeks to expose students to the technology and engineering of the world through project-based instruction.

The engineering magnet is nationally certified as an Innovation High School through Project Lead the Way (PLTW). PLTW is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curricular programs in the United States. Riley’s PLTW certification allows students to earn up to 13 college credits and multiple scholarship opportunities only awarded to PLTW graduates! Students in the Riley magnet programs create, design, build, discover, collaborate with peers and engineers, and solve problems while applying what they learn in math and science. Engineering magnet students can become industry-recognized Autodesk Inventor Certified Users

Students are challenged by focused, project based, standards and industry-driven courses that will prepare students for any future endeavor!
